Playing a story
A story is a text adventure with rules: you decide what your hero does, and the dice decide how it goes.
Start a run
Open a story and press Play. Each play is a run: Continue picks up your last one where you stopped, and New play starts another. Your runs also wait in History.
Your move
Write what your hero does or says. When a move is risky, the page shows the check: the skill, the roll and the result, like a success at a cost. The narrator then tells what happened, and changes to hit points, items or the story’s meters show beside it.
Two free commands
Type /recap for the story so far, or /ask to ask the narrator something out of character. Neither takes a turn or costs credits. Coming back after a while, you’ll see “Previously” first.
Credits
Every turn uses credits: 3 with Pip or Cozy, 10 with Lore. The price is shown before you play (“From 3 credits a turn”).
Endings
Many stories have chapters and more than one ending. When you reach one, play again or try the other opening.
