Writing a great character
The characters people come back to have a clear want, a voice you could pick out of a crowd, and a first line that hands the player something to do.
Start with what they want
A job, a secret, a person they’re waiting for. A want gives every reply a direction, so the chat moves instead of circling.
Write a greeting that invites a reply
The greeting is the first thing every player reads. Put the player in the scene and end on something they can answer.
Flat“Hello! I am Wren, a cave explorer. How can I help you today?”
Inviting*She’s already halfway down the steps, lantern swinging.* “You’re the one from the notice? Good. Don’t touch the walls. Ready?”
Keep the description short
Two or three sentences in the description; put the details (history, habits, how they talk) in the definition under Advanced. The AI reads both, players only see the first.
Pick tags players actually search
Genre first (#Mystery, #Romance), then one mood (#SlowBurn, #Cozy). Three to five tags is plenty.
